WHO ARE HUMANS AND WHY WE ARE ON EARTH
Humans are a species of highly intelligent primates called Homo sapiens. Biologically, we evolved over millions of years through natural selection from earlier ancestors in Africa. What makes humans distinctive is not just our bodies, but our ability to use language, imagine the future, cooperate in large groups, build cultures, ask questions like this, and search for meaning.
Who are humans? (Different lenses)
1. Biological view
Humans are animals—part of nature. We share DNA with other life forms and depend on ecosystems to survive.
2. Psychological view
Humans are conscious beings who think, feel, love, fear, create identities, and seek belonging.
3. Social view
Humans are community-builders. Families, tribes, nations, religions, and civilizations come from our need to cooperate.
4. Philosophical view
Humans are meaning-makers. We ask:
- Why am I here?
- What is right and wrong?
- What happens after death?
- What should I do with my life?
Why are we on Earth?
There is no single universally proven answer. Different frameworks answer differently:
Scientific answer
We are on Earth because life emerged here through natural processes over billions of years, and humans evolved as one branch of life. There is no scientific evidence for a predetermined cosmic purpose.
Religious / spiritual answer
Many traditions say humans are here to learn, grow, worship, serve others, or fulfill a divine purpose.
Philosophical answer
Life may not come with built-in meaning; humans create meaning through choices, values, relationships, and contribution.
My honest summary
Scientifically: humans are evolved primates.
Existentially: meaning is something we create.
Emotionally: many people find purpose through relationships, growth, and service
